No Jet Lag

No More Jet Lag

No jet lag is always the one last wish by every traveler flying into a different time zone other than their own. You can easily lose a day or two of vacation enjoyment because of jet lag, if you travel any great distance. A one hour earlier time difference is not a big deal. But a trip from the United States to Australia, has you losing two-thirds of an entire day. This can be more than your body can handle. When I made that trip, I was certainly affected by jet lag.

I wish I knew then what I know now about no jet lag issues. But the least I can do is share them with you. Here are a few suggestions to help you prepare in advance, so you’ll experience no jet lag on your next vacation.

You need to start your trip well-rested. I know this may seem hard to do with all the last minute packing, but make sure you get plenty of sleep the night before your trip.

Avoid alcohol and overeating before and during your flight. Try to eat healthy meals, and drink a lot of water to stay hydrated at the different altitudes. I know how tempting it would be to tip back a couple beers on a long flight. But you are really further ahead to wait until you get back on the ground.

Get as much exercise as possible while in flight. Just simple leg lifts from your seat, or a few minutes standing every two hours will help out a lot. A person that is already fit from a regular exercise routine will handle a long flight easier, as well.

Avoid sleep medications at all costs. Even if you use them on a regular basis, try your hardest not to take them while you are flying.

If possible, try to slowly get in the time zone you are flying to, days before you ever leave on your vacation. For example, if the time zone is three hours earlier, get up one hour earlier three days before your trip. Then two hours earlier the second day, and three hours earlier on day three, or the day before your vacation. You will be amazed how this will help you adjust. Of course, you will also be expected to follow a new eating and sleeping pattern to coincide with your earlier wake up schedule.

I would also recommend a product that is designed to give a person no jet lag symptoms after flying. There are many products out there on the market today. I know of one that is designed to help build your immune system, and keep your body pH level in balance. This has found its way on my travel checklist, and I wouldn’t leave home without it.
